How We Use Techo-Bloc's Borealis Pavers

At Water and Earth Landscape Design, we recognize the importance of selecting the perfect materials to bring your dream outdoor living space to life. Everyone loves the look of wood, and for a good reason. Wood is beautiful—but it’s not always the best option. The Borealis concrete paver from Techo-Bloc blends the rustic charm of wood with the durability of concrete. Inspired by the iconic look of railroad ties, Borealis pavers offer the warmth and aesthetic appeal of wood, with the low-maintenance and longevity of concrete, making it the perfect choice for many of our designs.

What are Techo-Bloc’s Borealis Pavers?

Water and Earth believes in using the best materials from brands we trust. When it comes to hardscaping materials, we’re proud to work with Techo-Bloc. Techo-Bloc’s Borealis pavers are an incredible example of the ingenuity and beauty of their designs. Borealis pavers mimic the appearance of natural wood while offering an alternative that avoids the issues commonly associated with real wood.

But looking great would not be enough for us to use a material across so many of our designs. At Water and Earth Landscape Design, we understand that every client has unique preferences. Borealis pavers also offer impressive versatility, with warm and cool color ways that slot seamlessly into a wide range of sleek, modern backyard spaces.

Techo-Bloc Borealis Pavers in Our Design

In the first design, seen above, Borealis pavers have been used to create a raised patio pool deck that blends the overall impression of wood with the modernity and practicality of concrete hardscaping. The pavers' wood-like appearance softens the overall look while maintaining clean lines that feel cohesive against the concrete coping of the pool. The cool tone bounces off the greenery and landscaping and ties in with auxiliary dining space toward the back of the yard.

Above, you can see the same Borealis pavers in a completely different application. Instead of creating a deck or patio, they are used to create a series of clean, modern retaining walls in a brand new front yard. As noted, they were designed to mimic railroad ries, also commonly used as retaining wall blocks. These, however, will be water and rot resistant, and play perfectly against the bright winding staircase nestled between the garden beds.

In this next image, seen above, Borealis pavers are employed to craft a rustic garden wall and planter area. In this space, you really see the applied grain and texture of the pavers that create a very organic wood feel. This wood look allows them to bounce seamlessly off the fence along the perimeter of this yard. The subdued color allows the plants and intricate pool tiling to be the star in this space.

In the last example, seen above, Borealis pavers by Techo-Bloc have been used to create a bocce ball court. Even simple elements like this space are elevated by the look of a finished paver. Treading the line between wood and concrete aesthetics, it blends easily against the landscaping, as well as the concrete slab walkway along the side of the home.

Why We Choose Techo-Bloc's Borealis Pavers

At Water and Earth Landscape Design, we are as committed to quality as we are to our clients. We use Techo-Bloc materials because they align with our standards of excellence and mission to create unique outdoor living spaces that are crafted to fit every homeowner's lifestyle. Borealis pavers are incredibly versatile, beautiful, and a great example about how an unconventional material choice can make all the difference in a design.

Whether used to create lush garden beds, as edging, or as a patio or pool deck, they are a great job for homeowners looking for the appeal of the aesthetics of wood with the practicality of concrete.
